5 Places to Visit & Things To Do This Fall In North Alabama
If you’re anything like us, fall is your favorite season. With the cooler weather, beautiful autumn leaves, and pumpkin spice, it’s hard to beat! While it’s not quite fall yet, it’s quickly approaching. This means it’s time to get in the fall spirit! We’ve prepared a to-do list of great fall activities right here in our home towns of North Alabama. Take advantage of these activities and locations to say goodbye to summer, and hello to autumn.
Huntsville Botanical Garden
While the Huntsville Botanical Garden is a beautiful location to visit during the summer months, their fall festivities are top notch! Each year the Gardens host Festifall, which features scarecrows, pumpkins, campouts, nature hikes, a fall plant sale, and so much more. Be sure to come see the Scarecrow Trail, which features countless scarecrows designed by various members of our community. Each of these scarecrows are unique and a great sight to see. Chalktoberfest
This event is a must-see. Sidewalk chalk artists gather to create masterpieces along the walkways for one weekend in October. Get your family together and enjoy a walk through Bridge Street and admire all of the art. There is also live music, face painting, balloon artists, and more. There are many retailers and restaurants along the art path, so you’ll be able to enjoy some light shopping, good eats, and drinks while you view the chalk art. Huntsville Ghost Walks
Ready to get into the spooky spirit? Huntsville Ghost Walks are back for this fall season! You can choose from three guided tours throughout various districts downtown. You’ll learn some history, hear some ghost stories, and have a whole lot of fun. These tours are suitable for all ages, and are offered every Friday and Saturday throughout September and October. Tate Farms
We can’t forget about Tate Farms when it comes to fall festivities. This farm is located in Meridianville and features 72 acres of pumpkin fields, hay rides, petting animals, a hay maze, tractor rides, games, shopping, and more. Many families make the trip to Tate Farms a yearly tradition each fall. At the end of the season you can even join them for Pumpkin Destruction Day! Scott’s Orchard
Pumpkins aren’t quite your thing? Head over to Scott’s Orchard instead! You can book a day to pick your own apples, straight from the orchard. While you’re at the orchard, you can also shop in the general store for apple cider, honey, baked goods, or even saplings to take home and grow yourself! Nothing quite says fall like apple picking.
