Spring HVAC Maintenance
We’ve all heard the term “spring cleaning,” but have you heard the term “spring HVAC maintenance?” While spring cleaning frees your home of dirt, dust, and grime, spring HVAC maintenance does the same for your HVAC system! It’s great to live in a clean home, but if it’s not comfortable, it’s not going to be enjoyable. Keep your home comfortable and your HVAC system running efficiently and effectively this spring and summer with routine preventative maintenance from Garrison & Garrison.
Why Do I Need Spring HVAC Maintenance?
Protecting one of the biggest investments in your home should be on the top of your list of priorities this spring. You wouldn’t go an extended period of time without changing your car’s oil, rotating your tires, or changing your windshield wiper fluid, so why would you disregard your HVAC system’s regular maintenance? Regular maintenance ensures your HVAC system is running at maximum efficiency to save you money on your energy bills and prolong system life. If your HVAC system isn’t running efficiently, it could be on the brink of a breakdown or complete system failure.

Maintenance You Can Do At Home
On top of the preventative maintenance we provide to your system, it’s also great to take the following preventative measures throughout the year to ensure clean, efficient, and proper air flow in your home.
Change Your Filter
Changing your filter regularly is important in keeping your system working effectively and keeping your home clean and comfortable. Since your filter is the boundary separating airborne particulates and allergens from re-entering your home, it regularly becomes filled and needs replacing. Keep this at the top of your to-do list every 1-3 months, more often if you have pets or allergy sufferers in your home.
Clean Your Air Vents
Your air vents act as the final boundary between your HVAC system and your home, so it’s important they’re clean as well. Twice a year, remove your air vent covers, wash them in warm soapy water, dry them, and put them back. Clean air vents ensure proper air flow and increased comfort. It’s also important to ensure none of your air vents are blocked by curtains, furniture, kids’ or pet toys, or any other obstructions.
Keep A Clean Home
The cleaner your home is, the less particulates your air filter has to block from entering your HVAC system. A cleaner home and cleaner air filter will have your system running more efficiently and improve your indoor air quality.
Install An Air Purifier
For even better indoor air quality, you should consider an air purification system from Garrison & Garrison. These systems eliminate up to 99.9% of allergens, viruses, bacteria, and other harmful contaminants from the air and surfaces of your home. That means you’ll have cleaner air at all times. Invest In A Programmable Thermostat
If you don’t currently have a programmable thermostat, you could be missing out on tons of energy savings, especially if you’re away from home for the majority of the day like most families. These thermostats allow you to schedule your home’s temperature according to your life, and they allow easier transitions between seasonal temperature changes. Clean Around The Outdoor Unit
Lastly, don’t forget to keep your outdoor HVAC unit free of limbs, leaves, and other obstructions. Keep bushes, plants, and trees at least 3-6 feet away from the outdoor unit, as it needs adequate space to perform effectively. When the outdoor unit is clean, it will operate more efficiently and it will last longer.
